PAX East: Day 2, Our Adventures Continues

by Carl on March 27th, 2010

So here we are at night just killing time till our next little event. We started the day again by first visiting the stores below. We did manage to see a few thing but could not yet commit

Our primary focus was the D&D Dark Sun Preview however we were much too early for signups. So we went to the game exhibition hall. We managed to see games like APB, some dance games, The Calling, etc. Marketing was at it’s finest of course with stickers. Only one booth dared to have booth babes and it was for ear phones….go figure.

We came across an awesome Magic: The Gathering booth. I picked up some fat packs for myself and the Mrs. The tend to be rare around our area so it was worth it. I also managed to pickup some old vintage NES cartridges. Shadowgate anyone?

We lined up for D&D however at the time we finally arrived there was a hug mega line up and we did not make it in for the session we wanted so tomorrow we will be men on a mission.

But just to go back to the game exhibition hall I cannot say video game wise that things were too exciting. Nothing was compelling really if you only count Red Dead Redemption and even then. Nothing screamed must see. If we had press passes I am sure we would have impressions of the Playstation Move or some such thing. But really even then it’s not something to look forward to in our opinion.

We headed to the free tabletop gaming area where we hooked up with three random awesome guys who wanted to play the Battlestar Gallactica board game from Fantasy Flight Games. We were more then happy however we were skeptical of the game. Oh how wrong we were. It ended up to be such an AWESOME game in many respects. We will need to review it more in depth but trust me it is a worthy game of owning. So much so Neil rushed to buy it and Curt picked up Arkham Horror. Ah I can lug one less box!!

We kept going back to the same boardgame booth which at this point we are quite familiar with the staff of Pandemonium. We want to try out some other games hopefully tomorrow. A few caught our eye but it’s way too busy. It’s obvious from the staff though that the attendance was beyond their expectations. Expect more PAX East in the future and if they do, we will be there.

We have more info coming this evening so stay tunes.
